Paid Social

A Feed Is a Scroll. The Job Is to Stop It, Then Keep Showing Up.

Two things decide whether social works for a business, and neither of them is the ad budget. The first is whether the creative earns a pause. The second is whether anything appears next week, and the week after that, still sounding like the person whose name is on the door.

Live — Carousel Studio produces the creative, Daily Voice produces the cadence, and both run through the same persona spine and human approval gate as every other channel.

What the Format Data Actually Says

Socialinsider’s benchmark study analysed 15 million Instagram posts from 417,130 accounts with an active presence between October 2025 and March 2026. It is cited here because the corpus, the window and the population are all stated — which is more than most figures in this category can say.

0.55%

Median engagement rate for carousels — the highest of any Instagram format in the study.

Socialinsider, Instagram Benchmarks, 15M posts / 417,130 accounts, Oct 2025 – Mar 2026.

~0.36%

Single static images, in the same study — and declining year over year.

Socialinsider, same dataset. Static image engagement fell 17% year over year.

37 vs 10

Median saves per post, carousels against single images. Saves are the closest thing organic social has to an intent signal.

Socialinsider, same dataset.

These are medians across hundreds of thousands of accounts in every category, not a promise about yours. What they establish is narrower and more useful: the format difference is real and consistent enough to be worth building around.

Why a Carousel Interrupts and an Image Does Not

  • A single image is one decision: keep scrolling, or don’t. A carousel asks for a swipe, and a swipe is a commitment — the reader has chosen to stay, and every slide after the first is time they decided to give you.
  • That time is the signal the platforms reward. Dwell is a ranking input on both feeds, so the format that holds attention is also the format that gets distributed further.
  • Saves and shares behave differently from likes. A save is someone deciding your post is worth finding again, which is the closest thing organic social has to intent.
  • A carousel forces a structure a caption never does — a hook, an argument, a payoff. The constraint is the value: it is very hard to write a weak carousel without noticing.

The Harder Half: Still Being There in March

  • Posting daily is not a creative problem. It is an operational one, and it is the reason most business accounts go quiet by week six.
  • The work is not writing one good post. It is writing the two hundredth one, on a Tuesday, when there is client work due — and having it still sound like the person whose name is on the company.
  • Agencies solve this by assigning a junior writer, which fixes the cadence and loses the voice. Founders solve it by writing everything themselves, which keeps the voice and loses the cadence. Both failures are visible from outside.
  • Batching a month in one afternoon produces a month that reads like one afternoon. It cannot reference anything that happened since.

How This Runs

  • Daily Voice reads what is actually happening in the market each day and drafts from it, so the cadence is fed by something real rather than by a content calendar written in January.
  • Carousel Studio turns a production package into on-brand slides — the brand’s own colours, type and logo from its Brand Bible, not a template with a logo dropped in the corner.
  • The voice is the client’s, captured once and applied every day. The point of automating the operation is that the personality survives it; a system that produces fluent, anonymous copy has automated the wrong half.
  • Nothing posts unreviewed. Every draft passes a human approval gate before it reaches a feed, because a brand account is a brand asset and an unattended generator is how it stops being one.
  • Every link carries campaign tagging, so social traffic arrives classified rather than landing in "direct" and quietly disappearing from the report that decides next quarter’s budget.

The same persona records that drive landing page personalization drive the social copy, so a carousel written for an owner-operator and one written for a marketing lead are different posts rather than the same post with a different hashtag.

What We Will Not Tell You

  • We can tell you what the format tends to do. We cannot tell you what it will do for you — that is what the first round of tests is for, and we would rather run it than predict it.
  • Published engagement figures for this format vary enormously between sources. For LinkedIn document posts we found claims ranging from a 3:1 advantage over text to 596% more engagement, across vendor blogs with no stated sample or window. We do not repeat those numbers, and we would be suspicious of anyone who does.
  • The Socialinsider figures below are cited because the methodology is published — a stated corpus, a stated window, a stated population. That is the bar.

The creative earns the pause. The cadence earns the relationship. Most businesses can produce one of those for about six weeks — the system exists so you produce both, indefinitely, and still sound like yourself.
